Honoring our Veterans

At Life’s Journey we honor and appreciate those who have served our country !!! We proudly serve every veteran entrusted in our care. To date, over 600 veterans and spouses of veterans have blessed us with caring for them!

Of the 2.4 million deaths in the United States each year, approximately 680,000 are Veterans!

A vast majority of Veterans are not enrolled in VA and may not be aware of end-of-life services and benefits available to them, including the Medicare Hospice Benefit and VA-paid hospice.

We are proud members of the “We Honor Veterans” program and our team is going through training and education to become fully engaged and involved in the care of veterans at the end of life. Through staff education and community outreach, our Hospice is better prepared to care for Veterans. Our relationships with VA facilities and other Veteran organizations have been strengthened, and we strive to provide the best hospice care for Veterans living in our community.

We honor not only our Life’s Journey hospice patients, but our partner hospice’s patients as well, in bringing peace and comfort and honor when faced with a life limiting illness!

These are the ways that we have honored our Veterans and you could volunteer with Life’s Journey in Indianapolis and join us in helping serve those who have served us.

2020:

”What an amazing day of celebrating our local veterans ! Despite COVID, we were able to safely deliver cupcakes, cards, letters, and pins to our veterans at home, in the inpatient facility, those residing in partner facilities and those in local hospitals ! Busy day of travel with lots of smiles, love, joy, tears, and pride! So grateful and blessed to honor those who sacrificed and served to give us the freedoms we enjoy today. We were extremely honored to be a part of Glasswater Creek's flag raising ceremony, thank you all!”

2019:

“Honoring Veterans with our local care providers/partners with delicious cake. We also presented them with special pins honoring their dedication and service to our country. We LOVE and celebrate our vets everyday! God bless those who served unselfishly to protect our freedom!”

2018:

“Today the staycation theme is honoring Kindred Hospice’s Walter Harris Sr.’s service to our country as a marine who served in the Korean War!”

Veterans are invited to participate and contribute to this program by volunteering with our Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer program. Volunteers are an important part of the WHV program. Interaction with Veteran patients, the sharing of life experience, assisting with VA benefits, Pinning Ceremonies and other opportunities to recognize our Veteran patients are among a few of the many areas a Veteran volunteer can assist a Veteran patient.

If you are interested in volunteering please call us today at 317-561-6840 and ask for Vickie or Nathan.
